Dan Dempsey

Mr. Dempsey has over 30 years of experience in the agriculture sector as a certified public accountant, executive level manager with strong financial background, and independent consultant to creditors, owners, and managers of financially distressed businesses.  He has held leadership positions including CEO, President, and CFO of the companies he has served, and has been responsible for overseeing and improving day-to-day financial operations, leading financial and operational assessments and turnarounds, protecting collateral and liquidating assets where necessary, and supervising the business side of the bankruptcy process.

Mr. Dempsey has extensive experience working as an independent consultant offering his services to financially distressed businesses and their creditors, working to help both sides achieve firmer financial footing.  Since 2008 Mr. Dempsey has worked with Hamstreet & Associates for two large agricultural clients, helping to develop and implement a turnaround plan that led to a successful refinancing in a tough credit environment in one case, and in the other to a reliable third-party assessment requested by concerned lenders.

Through part of the 1980’s and most of the 1990’s Mr. Dempsey served as CFO and then CEO and President of Becker Holding Corporation, overseeing the entire spectrum of day-to-day operations as well as fiscal management, financial planning, loan negotiations and procurement as the company grew from $20 million to $140 million in sales while dramatically increasing its grove holdings and processing plant capacity.

After receiving his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida and becoming licensed as a CPA, Mr. Dempsey rose steadily through the ranks of staff accountants to a senior management position at W. O. Daley & Company.  He moved on to become Treasurer and CFO of Hobe Groves.  Mr. Dempsey served as director of the National Juice Products Association from 1992-1998 and as director of the Florida Citrus Processors Association from 1994-1997.
